Pain

OUSBMS is delighted to welcome Professor John Wood FMedSci FRS to discuss his research in the molecular mechanisms behind pain and touch.

Prof Wood leads the Molecular Nociception Group at University College London in using genetic approaches to study the biology of nociception and somatosensation. His research focuses on the cellular structures and signalling pathways involved in nociceptor excitability, with a view to identifying drug targets for treating pain disorders. He has also co-founded a pharmaceutical company to develop new treatments for chronic pain caused by arthritis and cancer.

More information about Prof Wood’s work can be found on his page here: www.ucl.ac.uk/wibr/research/molecular-nociception-group/john-wood

Admission to this event is free for current members of OUSBMS, and £2 on the door for non-members.
