Reporting Standards for Economic Evaluation: What’s New in CHEERS 2022?

Since their development in 2013, the Consolidated Health Economic Evaluation Reporting Standards (CHEERS) have been widely cited, endorsed by a number of clinical and health services research journals, and adopted as one of the EQUATOR series of reporting guidelines, alongside CONSORT, PRISMA and STROBE. Over the past 2 years, the ISPOR CHEERS II Task Force has been updating the reporting guidelines, in response to criticisms of the current standards, comments about their inappropriate use, and developments in economic evaluation methods. The Task Force also considered whether the update should take account of the current debates about the need for greater transparency in economic modelling, and the involvement of patients and the public in health services research. This seminar will describe the new checklist of reporting items, discuss the main issues that have arisen during the update, and the initiatives being taken to support the dissemination and use of CHEERS 2022.
