DESCRIPTION:Climate change\, the defining crisis of our time\, compounds a
nd accelerates global challenges to health. A new initiative is taking sha
pe across Oxford to foster a multidisciplinary approach to climate solutio
ns: understanding\, mitigating\, and adapting to the complex interplay bet
ween climate and global health. Please join us for a kickoff seminar from
Dr. Robbie Parks\, visiting us from Columbia University\, Mailman School o
f Public Health.\n\nDr. Robbie M. Parks focuses his research on large-scal
e multi-disciplinary quantitative research focused on climate-related expo
sures\, public health and equity. In this seminar\, Dr. Parks will present
his recent\, ongoing\, and future work\, including work on tropical cyclo
 nes\, flooding\, heat stress\, mental health-related outcomes\, incarcerat
ed people\, and disparities\, from local to global in scope. For more info

SUMMARY:The Effect of Human Mobility and Population Density on the Spread
of COVID-19 - Moritz Kraemar (University of Oxford)

DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to host Dr Moritz Kraemer\, who will be present
ing his talk\, “The effect of human mobility and population density on t
he spread of COVID-19.” Dr Kraemer is a Branco Weiss Research Fellow in
the Department of Zoology at the University of Oxford and an Associate of
the Oxford Martin Programme on Pandemic Genomics. His work addresses quest
ions related to the spatial spread of infectious diseases. In January\, Dr
Kraemer began building a global line list database of confirmed COVID-19
cases\, which has evolved into the Open COVID-19 Data Working Group\, an i
nitiative co-led by the University of Oxford\, Harvard Medical School\, No
rtheastern University\, and the University of Washington. Using this data
and other global datasets\, Dr Kraemer is focused on modelling the impact
of human mobility on the spread of COVID-19 and identifying how human mobi
lity data and genomic data can inform when lockdowns can be lifted.\nSpeak

SUMMARY:Insights into the epidemiology of dengue and Zika from maps and mo

DESCRIPTION:The mosquito-borne viral diseases of dengue and Zika are one o
f the fastest growing public health threats in the tropics. Mathematical m
odels that describe how these diseases are spread are powerful tools for u
nderstanding their global emergence and their impact on affected populatio
ns. In this talk I will show how spatial models fit to epidemiological dat
a have allowed us to better understand ZIKV outbreaks\, improve our unders
tanding of the burden they impose in endemic areas and help us better plan
for future spread.\n\nSpeakers:\nDr Oliver Brady (London School of Hygien
