DESCRIPTION:This event will be a one-day conference on Saturday 8th June 2
 019 on Paradigm Shifts Across the Ages. The history of physics can be view
 ed as consisting of major paradigm shifts followed by decades and even cen
 turies working through the consequences of the dominating paradigm. As exa
 mples\, the Copernican revolution overtook the millennium-old Ptolemaic sy
 stem of astronomy\, and likewise Newton's mechanics replaced the ancient A
 ristotelian system. More recently\, the advent of special relativity and q
 uantum mechanics superceded the classical ideas of time\, space and matter
 . This conference will examine how physics has developed from antiquity to
  the present day through Kuhn's concept of paradigm shifts.\n\nRegistratio
