 vilege to welcome peace activists Mohamed Abubakr and Hamze Awawde for an 
 open and engaging dialogue on their efforts to foster peace and stability 
 in the Middle East. Their efforts span a broad spectrum of impactful initi
 atives—from educational programmes for youth and university engagements 
 around the world\, to high-level meetings with political leaders\, the fou
 nding of peace centres\, and participation in peace negotiations.\n\nIn th
 is intimate and informal setting\, Mohamed and Hamze will share insights f
 rom their journeys and reflect on the urgent need for new strategies in to

DESCRIPTION:The discussion is free and open to all members of the Universi
 ty of Oxford. The event will be followed by refreshments. Registration is 
 required from all attendees.\n\nMira Awad is a Palestinian-Israeli multidi
 sciplinary artist and activist. Nowadays also working as a Storytelling Co
 nsultant for companies and organizations seeking to develop authentic enga
 gement with their audiences. Throughout her internationally acclaimed care
 er as singer\, songwriter\, actress\, scriptwriter and more\, Mira has ded
 icated her art to the agenda of human empathy and solidarity. Since Octobe
 r 7th she has intensified her commitment to contribute to a nuanced and em
 pathetic discourse reg the Israeli Palestinian conflict\, in the aim of ba
 ttling the dehumanization practiced on both sides and steering towards a j
 ust resolution.\n\nHamze Awawde is a Ramallah-based Palestinian peace acti
 vist and conflict resolution expert. Hamze holds a Master’s degree in gl
 obal community development from the Hebrew University and a business degre
 e from Birzeit University. Hamze’s family was displaced in 1948 and has 
 since been heavily impacted by the ongoing violence. His grandfather was a
  fighter who was killed in 1978\, and his cousin was recently shot by the 
 IDF in Dura. For the last 12 years\, he has been committed to leading prog
 rammes that bring Jewish Israelis and Palestinians together and believes t
 hat those directly impacted by the conflict do not have the luxury of bein
 g extremists. Hamze is the Palestinian Regional Manager at Hands of Peace 
 and a former programme director at Yala Young Leaders.\n\nMagen Inon is a 
 London-based father of three from Israel who is an educator and holds a Ph
 D in philosophy of education. He has worked in various domains to cultivat
 e liberal values and leadership skills\, including with students at top un
 iversities\, high-ranking military officers\, promising young adults and i
 nmates. Since the murder of his parents in the Hamas attack on Israel on 7
 th October 2023\, Magen has become a leading voice for peace between Israe
 lis and Palestinians within international media\, local communities and th
