DESCRIPTION:Part of the Oxford Forum of Open Scholarship 2025\n\nIn the UK
 \, the National Security and Investment Act was updated in May 2024 to inc
 lude guidance for the higher education and research-intensive sectors. On
 May 23\, 2024\, EU Ministers adopted a Council Recommendation to Enhance R
 esearch Security\, addressing urgent risks associated with openness and in
 ternational cooperation in research. These include knowledge transfer\, ma
 lign influence\, and ethical violations. However\, this new security conte
 xt must not stifle the core principles of open science\, which remain esse
 ntial to innovation. These new recommendations and legislation should offe
 r a unique opportunity to reframe and implement open and participatory sci
 ence (also known as citizen science). This workshop explores the new oppor
 tunities for open science and engaged research in the context of research
 security. In the UK\, we call it Trusted Research.\nSpeakers:\nPaul Ayris
 (University College\, London)\, Dr. Tiberius Ignat (SKS Knowledge Services
 )
