DESCRIPTION:The University of Oxford 2013-2018 strategic plan starts with
the vision to lead in research and education and foster a culture in which
innovation plays an important role\, with the ultimate goal to benefit so
ciety on a national and global scale. In line with this ambition\, the Uni
versity of Oxford ranked first in the 2016 Times Higher Education World Un
iversity Ranking\, demonstrating all-round excellence including commendabl
e engagement with industry and technology transfer output.\n\nIn fact\, Ox
ford is a leading center for innovation\, producing more founders of billi
on-dollar startups that any other institute in Europe. Last year\, twenty-
one new spinouts were created from Oxford research alone\, attracting more
than £50 million in early-stage funding grants\, investment and partners
hips with pharma.\n\nTo explore the position senior Oxford researchers (gr
oup leaders and senior postdocs) and clinicians occupy in this equation\,
Innovation Forum Oxford\, in collaboration with the Medical Sciences Divis
ion\, brings together Oxford academics with facilitators of innovation\, i
ndustry collaboration\, and commercialisation to:\n\n-	Highlight opportuni
ties to engage with industry\n\n-	Deliver practical knowledge on how to co
mmercialise ideas within the university\n\n-	Learn how to seek funding (gr
ants and investment opportunities) and hands-on support and advice for tra
nslation of research-based ideas\n\n-	Be inspired by the experience of fel
low group leaders who successfully commercialised their lab-based findings
and established rewarding industry collaborations\n\n-	Create a platform
for interaction between scientists\, clinicians\, and industry partners to
foster translational collaboration\n\nTarget audience: Group Leaders\, Po
 stdoctoral Researchers\, and clinicians\nSpeakers:\nProf Angela Russell (O
xSTEM )\, Dr Thomas Hanke (EVP Head of Academic Partnership)\, Prof Shoumo
Bhattacharya\, Paul Ashley (Oxford University Innovation)\, Maxine Allen
(Head of Business Development and Partnering)\, Riwa Harfoush (Oxford Scie
