 0) follows New Years celebrations in Putian\, Fujian\, Southeast China. An
  experiential project based on 20 years of research by Kenneth Dean and Zh
 eng Zhenman\, this film illustrates the growing intensity of local traditi
 ons\, as rural villages and their temples transition into a new century. V
 illages in this part of China are undergoing radical transformations. As l
 and that was once public and agricultural is rebuilt and changes hands\, t
 he intricate temple system has responded. During the Cultural Revolution t
 emples were torn down – now they are being built up into ritual alliance
 s.\n \nThe screening will be followed by a Q&A with the director Professor
  Kenneth Dean.
