DESCRIPTION:*Dr Sebastian Brock* is Emeritus Reader in Syriac Studies and 
 Emeritus Fellow of Wolfson College.  Before moving to Oxford in 1974 he ha
 d taught at Birmingham and Cambridge Universities.  He has written extensi
 vely on early Syriac literature and in particular on the Greek the Syriac 
 translations of the Hebrew Bible. Among his publications is _The People an
