DESCRIPTION:Dr. Eitan Shamir is Director of the Begin-Sadat Center for Str
 ategic Studies (BESA Center) and head of the MA program in Security and St
 rategy in the Political Studies Department at Bar-Ilan University. Prior t
 o taking up his academic position\, he was in charge of the National Secur
 ity Doctrine Department at the Ministry of Strategic Affairs\, Prime Minis
 ter’s Office. Before joining the Ministry\, he was a Senior Research Fel
 low at the Dado Center for Interdisciplinary Military Studies (CIMS) at ID
 F General Headquarters.\n\nDr. Shamir’s research interests and publicati
 ons focus on military strategy\, command\, and innovation. He is the autho
 r of Transforming Command: The Pursuit of Mission Command in the US\, UK a
 nd Israeli Armies (2011) as well as the editor (with Beatrice Heuser) of I
 nsurgencies and Counterinsurgencies: National Styles and Strategic Culture
 s (2017). His forthcoming books (2023) are The Art of Military Innovation:
  Lessons from the IDF (with Edward Luttwak) and Moshe Dayan: The Making of
  a Strategist (Hebrew). Dr. Shamir holds a PhD from the Department of War
