 r Vernon's latest book. Sir Vernon is a former professor of Politics and G
 overnment and an Emeritus Fellow of Brasenose College. ‘Making the Weath
 er’ is a fascinating profile of six politicians who changed the politica
 l landscape of Britain. It will be a lively and informative evening. The e
 vent will be followed by a drinks reception. \n\nSir Vernon was formerly P
 rofessor of Government at Oxford University\, and Senior Tutor and Vice-Pr
 incipal at Brasenose College.\n\nHe has written widely on government and p
 olitics\, including books The People and the Party System\, Monarchy and t
 he Constitution\, and Power and the People: A Guide to Constitutional Refo
 rm. Most recently\, he has edited a book on The British Constitution in th
 e Twentieth Century and written on The New British Constitution. He has be
 en an adviser to government and parliamentary bodies on many occasions\, a
 nd in 1998 was awarded the CBE for services to constitutional history. He
