DESCRIPTION:This international conference is part of a partnership between
  the University of Oxford\, the Maison Française d'Oxford\, the PHEEAC la
 boratory at the University of the Antilles\, and the UMR LISA at the Unive
 rsity of Corsica. It will be held on December 15 and 16 at the Maison Fran
 çaise d'Oxford. This academic meeting aims to explore\, from a historical
  and anthropological perspective\, the arts of resistance to central power
  in the Caribbean and Mediterranean islands from the 18th to the 21st cent
 ury\, as well as the various forms of repression (censorship\, imprisonmen
