DESCRIPTION:A probiotic turn is underway in various domains of health and
environmental management. Probiotic approaches introduce organisms into ec
ological systems and manage their dynamics to restore desired functions an
d services. They aim to address the problems caused by the overreach of mo
dern\, antibiotic approaches that have simplified and degraded ecological
systems and compromised their resilience and sustainability. This talk pro
vides an overview of this shift\, and illustrates its implications for agr
iculture and food. It focuses on the example of regenerative agriculture a
nd the roles it affords livestock\, plants and microbes in tackling enviro
nmental problems.\nSpeakers:\nJamie Lorimer (School of Geography and the E
 nvironment\, University of Oxford)
