DESCRIPTION:Leading and Managing People in Research (formerly "Essentials 
 of People Management in Research") is a module in The Confident Manager Se
 ries\, designed to equip PIs/academic managers with knowledge of their res
 ponsibilities when managing research staff and with key people skills need
 ed to create a healthy and productive research environment.\n\nTopics cove
 red include recruiting effectively\, leading and managing a team\, having 
 productive career conversations/annual reviews\, supporting those on fixed
 -term contracts\, and fostering positive research cultures\, including exc
 ellence in research practice.\n\nThis module is specifically for new PIs (
 Principal Investigators) / Academic Managers / Researchers who have secure
 d a grant that will involve recruiting and managing others or experienced 
 PIs looking to update their knowledge and skills.\n\nObjectives\n\n- Under
 stand what is expected of PIs/academic managers at Oxford\n- Clarify HR es
 sentials for recruiting and leading your team\n- Learn how to facilitate e
 ffective career development conversations / annual reviews (CDR/PCDR) and 
 to manage fixed-term contracts\n- Explore your role in fostering a positiv
 e research culture and enabling excellence in research practice \n\n\nPlea
 se note: Professional services colleagues working in research or clinical 
 trials are advised to enrol on the more appropriate module in The Confiden
