DESCRIPTION:ABSTRACT \n\nHigh Commissioner of Singapore to the UK Mr Ng Te
 ck Hean will share his views on the rapidly evolving geopolitical landscap
 e and its global implications\, especially on Singapore and the Associatio
 n of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Mr Ng’s brief remarks will set the
  context for an interactive Q&A with students.\n \nThe session\, moderated
  by Professor Joerg Friedrichs\, will be followed by an informal reception
 .\n\nBIO\n\nMr Ng has been Singapore’s High Commissioner to the United K
 ingdom since November 2023. He is concurrently accredited to Iceland and I
 reland.\n \nPrior to his current appointment\, Mr Ng served as Deputy Secr
 etary (Asia-Pacific) at Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs from Apr
 il 2016 to September 2023. He was concurrently Deputy Secretary (Southeast
  Asia) from September 2019 to August 2022. During this period\, Mr Ng also
  served as Singapore’s Senior Official to the Arctic Council and the Asi
 a-Europe Meeting (ASEM).\n \nFrom August 2012 to April 2016\, Mr Ng was ap
 pointed Singapore’s Ambassador to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.  In
  recognition of his contributions to the strengthening of relations betwee
 n Singapore and Vietnam\, he was awarded the Vietnam Order of Friendship b
 y President Truong Tan Sang in 2016.\n \nMr Ng’s career in the Singapore
  Foreign Service has spanned multiple key appointments.  These include pos
 tings as First Secretary in Washington DC (1995-1998)\, Special Assistant 
 to Minister for Foreign Affairs Professor S Jayakumar (2001-2002)\, and De
 puty High Commissioner in Kuala Lumpur (2003-2006). He was Director of the
  Americas Directorate (2007-2010)\, and the Southeast Asia Directorate (20
 10-2012) at the Ministry’s headquarters.\n \nMr Ng was awarded the Publi
 c Administration Medal (Bronze) in 2003\, the Public Administration Medal 
 (Silver) in 2013\, and the Long Service Medal in 2015 by the Government of
