DESCRIPTION:The COVID-19 pandemic exposed existing faultlines in health in
equities\, throwing into sharp relief the differences in health outcomes d
epending on socio-demographic and structural drivers such as poverty\, rac
e\, geography and gender. Very few of these inequities were unexpected\, b
ut\, conversely\, few of them seem to have played a significant role in dr
iving the policy responses from national/sub-national Governments around t
he world.\n\nPresenting data collected for the past two and a half years i
 n constructing the world’s largest database of sex-disaggregated COVID-1
9 data from national sources\, this talk will explore the evidence around
the roles that sex and gender played in health inequities in the COVID-19
pandemic. It will review the extent to which health policies were gender-r
esponsive\, and will question what might be contributing to the gap betwee
n evidence and policy.\n\nJoin the talk remotely here: https://spi-ox-ac-u
