DESCRIPTION:We will conclude a successful term of the Southern Africa Disc
 ussion Group with a roundtable discussion. The session brings together aca
 demics who use innovative approaches to studying the region’s social and
  political history through oral narratives. Jocelyn Alexander will present
  on liberation army social history through her work on and with war vetera
 ns in Zimbabwe. Simukai Chigudu will discuss the making of his upcoming fa
 mily memoir Chasing Freedom\, which engages personal narrative to reflect 
 on the history and legacies of empire. Dan Hodgkinson will speak about his
  oral historical work on university student activism in Zimbabwe in an era
  of African decolonisation. The speakers will discuss how they approach th
 eir work\, how they have chosen to use sources\, and some challenges they 
 have wrestled with in studying these histories.\nThey will be in conversat
 ion with Lena Reim and Ila Axelrod.\nSpeakers:\n Various Speakers
