DESCRIPTION:Join Exeter College in welcoming Dr Akshat Rathi (2008\, DPhil
Organic Chemistry)\, Senior Climate Reporter at Bloomberg News as the spe
aker at this years Sustainability Event.\n\nUsing the Heathrow transformer
outage as a starting point\, Akshat explores the hidden bottleneck facing
Western countries on the road to decarbonisation - the infrastructure tha
t makes electrification possible.\n\nAs electricity demand surges and deca
rbonisation advances the main challenge is no longer generating clean powe
r but delivering it. Essential overlooked infrastructure with fragile supp
ly chains\, rising costs and potential geopolitical risk is holding back t
he clean energy transition.\n\nThis talk examines why failing to build the
backbone of an electric system that supports clean power delivery puts bo
th our climate goals and economic future at risk.\nSpeakers:\nDr Akshat Ra
