OxTalks is Changing
On 28th November OxTalks will move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events' (full details are available on the Staff Gateway).
There will be an OxTalks freeze beginning on Friday 14th November. This means you will need to publish any of your known events to OxTalks by then as there will be no facility to publish or edit events in that fortnight. During the freeze, all events will be migrated to the new Oxford Events site. It will still be possible to view events on OxTalks during this time.

Sibling of the Western Left or Offspring of Domestic Politics? Exploring the Past, Present, and Future of Polish Left-Wing Movements
How can one describe the essence of the Polish Left? Is she a sister of the Western left-wing movement, as both still draw from the ideas of the same founders? Or perhaps, after a century of developing in vastly different historical circumstances, Western and Polish left-wing movements have become two very distant relatives? Are the challenges faced by Western and Polish left-wing movements similar or entirely different? How much can both branches of the Left learn from each other to better address issues such as social radicalisation and populism?
Our speakers for the evening include:
Timothy Garton Ash: Professor of European Studies at the University of Oxford, Isaiah Berlin Professorial Fellow at St Antony’s College, Oxford, and a Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University.
Zofia Malisz: Member of the party Razem; candidate in the 2023 Sejm elections from the Warsaw New Left’s list, and a Postdoc Researcher at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden.
