OxTalks is Changing
OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.

Net Zero Britain: Are Voters Willing to Pay for the Climate Transition?

The struggle against climate change is, metaphorically and meteorologically, heating up. Globally, 2023 was the warmest year on record, with temperature rises exceeding the 1.5C limit deemed necessary to avoid the most extreme consequences of atmospheric heating. Both Labour and the Conservatives have rolled-back high-profile green commitments in recent months. Is this smart politics? Are voters really all that enthusiastic about the country’s promise to hit Net Zero emissions by 2050, or are they more concerned with relief from the current cost-of-living crisis? Just what do voters think about climate change and climate policies? These questions will be addressed along with others regarding the role climate politics may play the next general election and beyond. Hear from one of Britain’s leading analysts of public opinion on the environment about just how far voters are willing to go in paying for the climate transition.
