OxTalks is Changing
OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.
If staff have any questions about the Oxford Events launch, please contact halo@digital.ox.ac.uk
What can Artificial Intelligence do for people with MPN?
Are you living with a Myeloproliferative Neoplasm (MPN)?
We need your help with a project that could significantly improve MPN diagnosis and treatment.
The diagnosis and treatment of MPN (Myeloproliferative Neoplasms) relies on taking samples of your bone marrow. These samples are looked at by pathologists (doctors who specialise in looking at samples in the laboratory).
However, this pathology is complicated. It can be difficult to be sure that people get the best information about their condition. The diagnosis of MPN is often delayed or unclear. It can be difficult for doctors to accurately find changes in the bone marrow that might influence decisions about treatment.
Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to offer huge improvements in the diagnosis and monitoring of MPN.
Researchers at the University of Oxford are leading a study funded by Cancer Research UK and Blood Cancer UK. This research could lead to people getting an accurate diagnosis sooner and could mean that changes in bone marrow are picked up earlier. Hopefully, this will mean earlier access to the right treatments before the disease becomes more advanced.
However, we can’t design the research without your help. Please join us to find out more and share your experiences and thoughts.
