OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.

We’re thrilled to welcome Lord Matt Ridley, celebrated author and Exploration Club alumnus, for a fascinating presentation and discussion of his new book: Birds, Sex and Beauty.
In this captivating work, Ridley explores Charles Darwin’s theory of sexual selection through the dazzling world of bird displays and mating rituals—revealing the evolutionary forces behind beauty and mate choice in both animals and humans. From the ornate nests of bowerbirds to the melodic calls of curlews, this is a journey into nature’s most extravagant performances.
🎤 The talk will be followed by a Q&A session—ideal for anyone planning fieldwork or simply curious about the science of attraction in the wild.
📚 Don’t miss the chance to hear from one of our most distinguished alumni!
