Each year, the UK comes together to commemorate the Holocaust, Nazi Persecution and subsequent genocides in Rwanda, Cambodia, Bosnia and Darfur on Holocaust Memorial Day, 27th January. This event will feature two key figures in Holocaust commemoration and its contemporary relevance in conversation to reflect on Holocaust Memorial Day 2021. Barbara Winton is the daughter of Sir Nicholas Winton, who organized the rescue of 669 Czech children, and author of his biography If its not impossible…. Barbara has also been active in campaigning for refugees alongside Lord Alf Dubbs, one of the children brought to the UK on her father’s transport. Olivia Marks-Woldman OBE is Chief Executive of the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust, the organization responsible for marking Holocaust Memorial Day in the UK. Olivia has overseen an incredible growth of HMD events and was recognized for her work at the Trust in the 2020 Queen’s Birthday Honors.
