OxTalks is Changing
On 28th November OxTalks will move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events' (full details are available on the Staff Gateway).
There will be an OxTalks freeze beginning on Friday 14th November. This means you will need to publish any of your known events to OxTalks by then as there will be no facility to publish or edit events in that fortnight. During the freeze, all events will be migrated to the new Oxford Events site. It will still be possible to view events on OxTalks during this time.

War in the Congo: Rebels, Rwanda & Resources
Join us for an unprecedented opportunity to engage with His Excellency Mr. Ndolamb Ngokwey, Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Congo 🇨🇩, as he addresses the ongoing conflict in Eastern DRC. This high-level diplomatic event will offer unique insights into one of Africa’s most complex and consequential crises, drawing from Ambassador Ngokwey’s distinguished thirty-year career with the United Nations, where he served as Assistant Secretary General 🇺🇳.
The recent escalation of hostilities between the DRC and Rwanda, culminating in the capture of major cities by Rwandan forces, has drawn international concern, with profound implications for regional stability, humanitarian conditions, and global supply chains. The Ambassador will provide a comprehensive briefing on:
*The historical context of the conflict
*Current military developments in North Kivu and South Kivu
*The humanitarian crisis affecting millions of displaced civilians
*The role of natural resources in fueling tensions
*Diplomatic efforts to achieve sustainable peace
*The DRC’s perspective on international intervention
The evening will begin with the Ambassador’s keynote address, followed by a moderated Q&A session where attendees can pose questions directly to His Excellency. The event concludes with a reception offering the rare opportunity to engage in one-on-one conversations with the Ambassador and members of the diplomatic delegation.
