Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. The two-week OxTalks freeze period starts on Monday 2nd March. During this time, there will be no facility to publish or edit events. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period. This year’s Frankland Visitor to Brasenose, James Bobin, has combined his talents as a writer, director, and producer to create and shape some memorable and ground breaking projects in recent decades. Come and listen to him reflect on his career and have the opportunity to grill him about the film and television world.
He is currently directing the third season of PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS for Disney+. He was nominated for a DGA award and has won two Children’s & Family Emmys for his work as director on the pilot and second episode of the series’ first season.
Previously, James served as director and executive producer on THE MYSTERIOUS BENEDICT SOCIETY for Disney+ for which he also won a Children’s & Family Emmy.
He is well-known for resurrecting the Muppets franchise, directing THE MUPPETS starring Amy Adams and Jason Segel, which was an international sensation that won an Oscar for Best Original Song and spurred a sequel, MUPPETS MOST WANTED, which he also directed. James’ ability to navigate different genres is further exemplified in his direction with Johnny Depp, Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter in ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS for Joe Roth and Disney. The combined worldwide box office of his work is almost a billion dollars.
