Postgraduate students across the UK and further afield are invited to attend a one-day research method training workshop. The day seeks to offer an introduction to a variety of methods that could be used within geography research as well as a taster of what it means to bring multiple methods together and this idea of ‘interdisciplinarity’. This workshop will be particularly useful for those in the early stages of their PhD, or Masters-level students who are developing plans for doctoral research.

Our keynote speakers, Dr Sasha Engelmann and Dr Lena Jeha, will talk about their different perspectives on research associated with the study of climate change and environmental sustainability. They will touch upon the various creative methods that they have used in their own projects and begin to touch upon the importance of interdisciplinarity for a discipline like geography.

Workshop participants will also be given time to consider how they could use multiple and/or interdisciplinary methods in their own research in order to effectively meet their research objectives. The day will end with an exploration of ethical issues in Geography research, drawing on examples of various data collection scenarios and potential issues within their own research.
