Mental toughness and mental health: insights from professional sport
Former professional rugby player and current Kellogg DPhil student, Kearnan Myall (Leeds Carnegie, Sale, Wasps and OURFC Blue), discusses the pressures of high level sport and the mental side of sportsmens’ and sportswomens’ welfare.

Kearnan will be joined by his supervisor Willem Kuyken, Director of the University of Oxford Mindfulness Centre (OMC).

This event is free and open to all but booking is required.

Kearnan Myall:
Kearnan is a former professional rugby player who played a total of 14 seasons for Leeds, Sale Sharks, Wasps and represented England in 2013. At the peak of his playing career he experienced a period of severe depression and came close to taking his own life. From this low point Kearnan began studying mental health, completing a Masters in the Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health and is now doing a DPhil in Psychiatry researching mindfulness interventions in elite athletes.
