OxTalks is Changing
OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.

What is Oxford’s history of inequality and migration?

Oxford as a city has a very particular history. The town grew around the University in the late 14th Century and arguably the university has dominated its development ever since. The city has grown an international reputation as one of the oldest centres of learning, but actually what is it like living here? Beyond the University what has happened with industrial boom and decline? What are the realities of inequality and migration?
Nicola Headlam, Researcher at COMPAS will introduce some of the background to these issues and how the city has been planned over the years. Bridget Anderson will help us to think about migration and who is a migrant within this context.
