Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. From now until the launch of Oxford Events, new events cannot be published or edited on OxTalks while all existing records are migrated to the new platform. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period.
From 16th, Oxford Events will launch on a new website: events.ox.ac.uk, and event submissions will resume. You will need a Halo login to submit events. Full details are available on the Staff Gateway.
This event will be a hybrid session which will be accessible both online (see below) and in person in the Catherine Lewis Lecture Room, Clarendon Institute, Walton Street, Oxford OX1 2HG. Refreshments to follow.
Hebrew culture, like any national culture, is a complex and rich system. The establishment of the State of Israel frames part of Hebrew culture within an additional context – the Israeli context – which is simultaneously broader and narrower than the Hebrew context. This panel explores less familiar aspects in the transformation of Hebrew culture into Israeli culture. It will focus on two very different aspects of Israeli culture – Israeli dance and the ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) community. These two topics will be situated within the broader context of Israeli culture and Israeliness.
