Guy is the Director of the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU), a Wellcome Trust funded Major International Programme with research units in Vietnam, Nepal and Indonesia. OUCRU’s mission is to have local, regional and global impact on health by leading a locally driven research programme on infectious diseases is southeast Asia. Guy has lived and worked in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam, for more than 15 years. His own research interests focus on improving the diagnosis and treatment of life-threatening infectious diseases, including tuberculosis, primarily through clinical trials. He qualified from Cambridge University and the United Medical and Dental schools of Guy’s and St Thomas’ in London, training in infectious diseases and clinical microbiology in Brighton, OUCRU in Vietnam, Imperial College London, and the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in London. Guy is Professor of Infectious diseases at the University of Oxford and a practicing infectious diseases physician in Vietnam and in the UK. He is a Fellow of the UK Academy of Medical Sciences.
