OxTalks is Changing
OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.
If staff have any questions about the Oxford Events launch, please contact halo@digital.ox.ac.uk
Conserving our Climate: Effectively Engaging Canadian Conservatives in Climate Conversations
Implementing long-term effective climate policy often necessitates buy-in from large segments of the population lest popular pushback occur. Conservatives in Canada remain largely opposed to most climate policies, including and especially a carbon tax, despite its small government and fiscally conservative roots. Numerous studies have shown that framing can be used to effectively shift the opinions of climate skeptics, though some of the results point to framing that has or is already being used in Canada. This study aims to identify the gap between the theoretically effective framing suggested by some research and what is actually impactful among Canadian conservatives.
