Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. The two-week OxTalks freeze period starts on Monday 2nd March. During this time, there will be no facility to publish or edit events. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period. The banking industry is facing multiple challenges: restrictive regulation, margin pressure, public scrutiny, increasing competition from emerging markets and innovative offerings- once safely at the sector’s periphery- gaining traction. With banking culture, business structures and regional focus all changing simultaneously, innovation was long neglected. In 2013, nearly USD 3bn were invested in FinTech start-ups and incumbents are trying to catch up with disruptive innovators in terms of client service, accessibility and pricing models. Can established players cope with innovation pressures or will the ‘incumbent’s curse’ prevent them from being successful in the long term?
