POSTPONED to 2 June | Are women to blame for high demand?
Women use the washing machine more, they cook more and do the majority of housework. We know this from extensive time use records. Energy models have used such data to develop energy consumption profiles, which therefore (unsurprisingly) conclude that women use more energy. In this colloquium we challenge this assertion with new data, which links individual activities directly to energy consumption. This will shed light on who really is to blame and how our patterns of electricity use differ.
