OxTalks Change Freeze Starts 2 March
Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. The two-week OxTalks freeze period starts on Monday 2nd March. During this time, there will be no facility to publish or edit events. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period. Once Oxford Events launches, you will need a Halo login to submit events. Full details are available on the Staff Gateway.
The Burning Field: Film screening and Q&A
The Burning Field is an ethnographic portrait of an environmental nightmare. This raw, immersive film shows daily life in one of the largest e-waste dumps on earth, through the eyes of four young people who live and work there. The film follows three young men and one young woman as they break down and burn appliances and then sell the aluminum and copper to local vendors. By observing their daily routines and interactions over the course of a single day, we witness an unforgettable slice of daily life in Agbogbloshie. Told entirely from their unique perspectives and in their own words, veriteì sequences capture telling moments from lives spent dismantling and burning electronic appliances from around the world, and the steep toll that it takes both on them and on the environment.
