The Trouble with Twins
This talk will focus on twin to twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) and surgical interventions.
Dr. Michael Bebbington is a board certified, fellowship-trained maternal-fetal medicine specialist with extensive expertise in fetal surgery and fetoscopic-based fetal interventions. Dr. Bebbington received his medical degree from McMaster University in Ontario, Canada, and a Master of Health Science degree in Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. He completed his residency training at McMaster University and fellowships in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of British Columbia and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He has been on faculty at the University of Texas at Austin, Dell Medical School since 2021 and previously held faculty positions at the University of Pennsylvania, Perelman School of Medicine, the McGovern School of Medicine at UT Health Houston and the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis Missouri. In addition to his leadership role at the CFCC, Dr. Bebbington is currently pursuing a Fellowship in Medical Education at Dell Medical School. He is also active in the education program for the MFM fellowship program there.
As a leading fetal interventionist, Dr. Bebbington specializes in complex monochorionic twin pregnancies such as those affected by twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), twin reverse arterial perfusion sequence (TRAP), selective fetal growth restriction (sFGR) and discordant anomalies. His particular expertise also includes surgical approaches to fetuses with Spina Bifida having been a co-investigator for the Management of Meningomyelocele Trial.
He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He serves as an editor for Ultrasound and Obstetrics & Gynecology and is a reviewer for multiple journals in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Fetal Medicine.
