The future of work in Africa
Join Zainab Usman, public sector specialist at the World Bank, to discuss her recent report ‘The future of work in Africa: harnessing the potential of digital technologies for all’. She will also reflect on her career experience in a multilateral development bank. The discussion will be moderated by Beatriz Kira from the Blavatnik School of Government’s Pathways for Prosperity Commission.

About the speaker:

Zainab Usman has worked at the Economic Community of West African States and the International Crisis Group, and has consulted for the World Economic Forum on Africa, Department for International Development and Office of the Nigerian National Security Adviser. She is currently working on new research examining the economic transformation of East Asian countries, and more broadly, she works on issues at the World Bank including natural resource governance, energy sector reform and service delivery.

Zainab holds a BSc in International Relations from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and an MSc with Distinction in International Political Economy and Development from the University of Birmingham. She completed her DPhil at Oxford University, where her research assessed the oil economy, economic reform, structural transformation and political institutions in Nigeria since the transition to democracy in 1999.
