Meet the Manuscripts: the Renaissance reform of the book
The renewed appreciation of classical eloquence in the Italian renaissance led to major changes in how manuscripts were made, written and decorated. Join us as we look through some lesser-known treasures from the Bodleian Library to learn more about these transformations and how they reached England. With Matthew Holford, Tolkien Curator of Medieval Manuscripts, and David Rundle, Lecturer in Latin and Manuscript Studies at the University of Kent, and author of The Renaissance Reform of the Book and Britain (Cambridge University Press, 2019).
