Workshop Reenactment issues, knowledge and practices
In 2015, the CESR (Center for Higher Renaissance Studies, Tours University) inaugurated a project about reenacting a feast given by Francis I in 1518 with the help of Leonardo da Vinci to celebrate the King’s victory at Marignan. This pageant reenactment (indeed, the reenactment of a reenactment) implied not only preparing a show with 500 actors in arms and costumes, with period music, period fighting techniques, period food, period encampements etc., elements of scenography and settings, but also articulating the show with an internet site including an historical database, the transcriptions of historical sources and a web-series (see marignan2015.univ-tours.fr). In a second stage (2016-2107), this lead to the shooting of a new thirteen episode web-series : « Following the path of Leonardo » soon to be seen on renaissance-transmedia-lab.fr. In time, this web-series will be integrated to a multimedia system and will interact with a serious game on leonardian mechanics. The scope of Pascal Brioist’s presentation is to introduce these diverse integrated projects and to focus on the issues and challenges presented by such a serious game in the making, using virtual headsets. Seriousness and boredom will hence be the main topic of the talk… agremented with videos.
