Climate Brides: (Un)tying the Knots Between Climate Change and Child Marriage
The Climate Brides project investigates the intersection of climate change, environmental stress, and social inequality, focusing on how shifting ecological conditions are influencing migration patterns, livelihoods, and marriage practices in vulnerable regions of South Asia. It links environmental change to questions of social protection, agency, and structural vulnerability.
Dr Reetika Revathy Subramanian, Founder and Researcher – Climate Brides will present insights from this innovative project, followed by reflections from discussant Dr Victoria Whitford, Researcher – Children and Climate Initiative and Department of Psychiatry. The session will be of particular interest to students and researchers working on climate change, gender studies, justice and development policy.
