OxTalks Change Freeze Starts 2 March
Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. The two-week OxTalks freeze period starts on Monday 2nd March. During this time, there will be no facility to publish or edit events. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period. Technology-facilitated abuse (“tech abuse”) in the context of intimate partner violence (IPV) describes an incident or a pattern of incidents in which digital systems are used with the intention to monitor, control, coerce, threaten, degrade, and harm a victim/survivor. Tech abuse, therefore, intersects closely with other forms of IPV, family and domestic abuse, and stalking. However, tech abuse is not an “official” concept or measurement category. Scholars have used different terminology to describe and evaluate the perpetration of abuse and harassment via digital means. This presentation examines the “boundary questions” that tech abuse creates and provides an overview of the current research landscape whilst discussing the findings of a recent comparative survey conducted with UK and Australian support sector representatives.
