Fairness, Social Learning, and Authoritarian Attitudes
Does the internalization of the social norm of fairness affect attitudes towards authoritarianism? This experimental design is to be carried out with panel respondents from Chile and Peru. It features a responder-only ultimatum game to measure the degree to which subjects have internalized the social norm of fairness, along with supplementary survey measures of this norm. Subsequently, a conjoint choice survey measures the individual marginal component effects of authoritarian policy positions on subjects’ choices over political candidates, thus suggesting subjects’ attitudes towards authoritarianism.
