Global Trends in the Water Footprint
Freshwater is a finite and vulnerable resource, crucial for sustaining life, fostering development, and preserving the environment. However, we are using too much of it in many places around the world. What are we using all this water for? How sustainable is humanity’s collective water use? Given the interconnectedness of the global economy, who supplies the world with (virtual) water and who benefits? Informed by a state-of-the-art modelling study he conducted with the World Bank, Rick will share the latest insights on the water footprint of humanity, its consequences, and how we can move to a more sustainable water future.
