OxTalks is Changing

On 28th November OxTalks will move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events' (full details are available on the Staff Gateway).

There will be an OxTalks freeze beginning on Friday 14th November. This means you will need to publish any of your known events to OxTalks by then as there will be no facility to publish or edit events in that fortnight. During the freeze, all events will be migrated to the new Oxford Events site. It will still be possible to view events on OxTalks during this time.

Oxford Political Violence Conference - Causes, Character and Consequences

This conference brings together graduate students and early-career researchers from a variety of disciplines concerned with questions of political violence to share their original research on violent conflict within and beyond states.
Across four panels, the conference explores the contested nature of political violence, the type and internal organisation of actors involved, their allegiances and relationships to the civilian population, as well as responses by both internal and external actors to the various types of violence observed. Addressing such vast phenomena as insurgencies, terrorism, transnational organised crime, and proxy warfare, it provides an opportunity for comparison and critical debate of phenomena that have been of concern to both practitioners and academics. To further foster dialogue between academia and practice, we invite policy-makers and practitioners to join us for a Researchers-Practitioners ‘Speed-Dating’ session over lunch (registration required).
Participation at the conference is free (meals not included). Walk-ins are welcome, but prior registration is encouraged. For more information, please refer to the Conference Programme (www.sant.ox.ac.uk/sites/default/files/political_violence_conference_programme.pdf) or send us an e-mail at oxfordpoliticalviolence@gmail.com.
