OUNCS Symposium in Oxford: Providing for the planet without costing the earth

Oxford University Nature Conservation Society and Oxford Martin School bring you a day long symposium of short and powerful talks focusing on the most critical sustainability issues we face in the world today. By bringing together a community of environmentally minded students, academics, and professionals from all disciplines and backgrounds, we hope to plant the seeds of inspiration which will grow into real world solutions to our environmental problems.

Speaking on food security:
Professor Charles Godfray CBE – University of Oxford

Speaking on sustainable fisheries:
Professor Simon Jennings – Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science
Professor Catherine Redgwell – University of Oxford
Chris Grieve – Consultant to the Marine Stewardship Council

Speaking on green forestry:
Tallulah Chapman – Forest Stewardship Council
Dr Sandra Nogué – University of Southampton

The day will end with a panel session led by Professor Ian Bateman OBE of Exeter University, discussing: “The ecosystem services approach to conservation: a framework for sustainably meeting demand?”, featuring:

Professor Colin Mayer – University of Oxford
Tony Juniper – campaigner, writer and sustainability advisor
