OxTalks is Changing
Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. From now until the launch of Oxford Events, new events cannot be published or edited on OxTalks while all existing records are migrated to the new platform. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period.
From 16th, Oxford Events will launch on a new website: events.ox.ac.uk, and event submissions will resume. You will need a Halo login to submit events. Full details are available on the Staff Gateway.
Sleep – a brain state serving memory
Jan Born is director of the Department of Medical Psychology and Behavioral Neurobiology at the University of Tübingen, Germany. He obtained PhDs in Psychology and Physiology. After stays at the State University of New York at Stony Brook and the Department of Physiology at the University of Ulm, Germany, he was appointed full professor of Physiological Psychology at the University of Bamberg in 1989. In 1999, he joined the Department of Neuroendocrinology at the University of Lübeck, and changed in 2010 to his current position. Born’s primary research interests are in the dynamics of memory formation in biological systems. He is particularly interested in the memory functions that sleep serves for the central nervous system and the immune system. For his research he has received several awards and honors including the Leibniz award of the German Science Foundation in 2010. Dr. Born has co-authored more than 500 publications. He is a member of the German National Academy of Sciences, Leopoldina.
