The future of the UK welfare state

In person only event

The British welfare state is facing unprecedented challenges, both in delivering welfare services – benefits, pensions, health, social care and social housing – and in funding them.

Join İrem Güçeri, Associate Professor of Economics and Public Policy, and Christopher Adam, Professor of Development Economics, as they chair a panel discussion on ‘The Future of the UK Welfare State,’ including Sir Andrew Dilnot, former Warden of Nuffield College, Ruth Curtice, Director at the Resolution Foundation and Anna Gross, Political Correspondent at the Financial Times.

This event will summarise and build on the latest issue of the Oxford Review of Economic Policy on this topic. The panellists will discuss the findings of the papers in the journal issue and address the pressing challenges facing the British welfare state.

Please note, this event takes place in person only. There will be refreshments in the Inamori Forum from 16:00 followed by the panel discussion at 17:00. The discussion is followed by a drinks reception.
