OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.

Stuart M McManus is Assistant Professor of Pre-Modern World History at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He received his Ph.D. in history (secondary field in classical philology) from Harvard University, and prior to coming to CUHK, he taught Mexican and ancient Mediterranean history for two years at the University of Chicago as an IFK postdoctoral fellow. His first book, Empire of Eloquence: The Classical Rhetorical Tradition in Colonial Latin America and the Iberian World, was published Cambridge University Press in 2021, and his new book, The World of 1619, is under contract with Harvard University Press.
