“Introductory meeting with Oxford Science Enterprises to explore areas of mutual collaboration”

Speaker: Claire Brown, Principal, Life Sciences at Oxford Sciences Innovation

We would like to introduce OSE, the preferred investor of the University, generally to the WHG and discuss multiple ways we could engage for mutual benefit and discuss some examples where we have already helped PIs commercialise their work in Oxford building companies within the University.

We would also like to spend some time specifically discussing a newer translational funding mechanism which we think will be of interest. This mechanism is intended to help PIs translate ideas and deploy funding ahead of company formation. We call this the “Uncover”- with the ultimate aim to commercialise these projects, if successful, into a new company with the founders. The Uncover is of course only one mechanism of funding we can provide, so will also touch on several examples of how we have built companies to date.
