OxTalks will soon move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events.' There will be a need for an OxTalks freeze. This was previously planned for Friday 14th November – a new date will be shared as soon as it is available (full details will be available on the Staff Gateway).
In the meantime, the OxTalks site will remain active and events will continue to be published.
If staff have any questions about the Oxford Events launch, please contact halo@digital.ox.ac.uk
Office work is commonly perceived as neither productive nor fulfilling. Recent advances in communication technologies, like email and instant messaging, have not only exacerbated this problem yet have become sources and symbols of stress in their own right. Process improvement techniques that have had demonstrable success in manufacturing often show limited and temporary effects only when applied within office contexts.
In this lecture Professor Holweg will report on his journey to identify the root causes that restrain white-collar productivity and impede process improvement, and discuss proposed solutions in the light of the opportunities that robotic process automation and machine learning can provide to white-collar work.
Schedule
16:10 – On-site registration opens
16:50 – Guests are seated
17:00 – Matthias Holweg’s Inaugual Lecture commences
18:00 – Drinks reception
18:45 – Close
The talk is open for anyone to attend, registration is essential so please use the register button to confirm your attendance.
