*Global Public Seminars in CIE* Disability Under Siege: Decolonising Disability in Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine
Status: This talk is in preparation - details may change
Status: This talk has been cancelled
Most of the knowledge on disability has been produced in the Global North, despite the majority of disabled people being in the Global South. Not only is disability higher in these countries and its effects exacerbated by the sociopolitical conditions, infrastructure and attitudes to disability, but disability also arises as a direct result of conflict and armed violence. The link between conflict, disability and access to education has been relatively under- examined. This talk draws on the work of my GCRF-AHRC funded Disability Under Siege Network Plus Programme (disabilityundersiege.org ) working with partners in Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine, addressing the fundamental challenge that most children with disability in the region never go to school.
